AGRO VAN was established in 2016 in Çaldıran district of Van. It produces tomatoes and cucumbers using geothermal energy in the greenhouse. It has an annual production capacity of 500 tons.
In the cold weather of our city of Van that can reach -40 degrees, the production using geothermal resources is distributed all over Turkey and the world. Hot water coming out of 7 different points is transmitted to the greenhouses with 120 km long pipes. And thanks to the warm environment created in this way, tomato production is provided.
10 different types of tomatoes are grown with the 12 million lira project supported by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. The greenhouse area is 34.000 m2. Tomatoes, known as van tomatoes, also attract attention with their long shelf life.
