Perfetti Van Melle was established by the merger of Perfetti SpA and Van Melle B.V., operating from many countries since 1079. The two companies, working jointly on projects worldwide, acquired 37% of Van Melle’s shares in line with common goals.

This step taken with a joint venture enabled Perfetti to become a world brand of Van Melle, and all its shares were purchased in 2001. In 2006, it continued its investments and acquired the Spanish company Chupa Chups, becoming the strongest brand globally. Today, it is the third-largest candy-chewing gum producer in the world.
