The company was founded in 1870 in Minnesota by W.W. Cargill. Taking advantage of the development of the Southern Minnesota Railroad, Cargill expanded its business beyond the grain trade to also transport commodities such as coal, flour, feed, timber, and seeds. At the same time, the company started investing in railways, land, irrigation systems, and farms. The company, which took advantage of the period until 1930, took the name Cargill it has today. After this breakthrough, the company continued to grow between 1950 and 1980.
The company, which survived World War II conditions with its experience and correct management strategy, continued its pioneering attitude and breakthroughs in the sector from the 1990s to the present day. In 1999, Cargill incorporated new business lines as its official strategic goal and expanded its field to 102 different business units. By 2003, the value of the firm had exceeded 1.000.000$.
Cargill launched Truvia, a sweetener made from stevia leaves, in 2008. The company, which made a great breakthrough in 2011, bought the Netherlands-based Provimi. In this way, it significantly expanded its animal nutrition business globally and added pre-mixes and additives to its product portfolio. When the year came to 2020, Cargill has been continuously contributing to people and organizations’ development with 155 years of industry experience and constantly increasing company value.

The company, which started its activities in our country in 1960, has been continuing its activities as Cargill since 1986. Employing more than 600 people today, the firm carries out its activities in Istanbul, Bursa, Adana, Balıkesir, Ankara, Kocaeli, and İzmir. Cargill’s head office is located in Istanbul and was opened in 1992. The company operates in three main branches in our country. These are; food, feed, and industrial product items. These business lines produce and sell starch and sweeteners, edible vegetable oil, oleo-chemical and bio-industrial products. Also; It also continues the production and sales of cocoa and chocolate, thickener, animal feed premix, basic mixture, and special products.
